Yeah, their laboratory method of testing will be more precise, but we'd be talking decimal points, not whole numbers and certainly not a difference of like 2 or 3 or 4 between your home result and their lab result. I also pH test plenty of products at home, and the vast majority of them test at right around what the company claims the pH to be. Plus, anecdotally, their claim that home pH testing is wildly inaccurate is pretty off base. The pH strips you're using aren't great-multicolor strips like these (just an IG post) tend to be easier to get accurate readings from-but they're certainly workable for finding a ballpark figure and wouldn't be throwing up a 5 or 6 if the product is really at a 3 or below :) As you can see, the pH test result from this is not much better.Ģ) If so, are these products in any way usable? Or am I wasting my time using this serum on my face? I decided to chill my beans and wait it out for the replacement package that got redirected to New York, which has arrived today. As an example, this is the pH test for Vitamin C serum from SR Skincare. In response, I informed them that I regularly pH test my skincare products and hadn't found anything quite as unusable as this before. As the serum ages, so can the pH, as the vitamin c begins to oxidize. Without using these meters and guidelines such as buffers, thermal and chemical equilibrium, exact pH measurements can not be achieved by simply using pH strips which are known to have high in accuracy rates. By using our pH meters in controlled settings improves accuracy in our pH results down to decimal points, thus giving us greater confidence in our pH measurements. Our pH meters feature automatic buffer recognition, correct calibration buffers and are always used in its designated temperature profile for these buffers. The correct testing for pH is in a temperature and chemical controlled environment. Our manufacturing team assured us that the process in which the pH is tested is via digital meters that have a higher accuracy than pH strips with single increment values. When freshly manufactured, the serum pH is approximately 2.4. I emailed the company and they responded with the following: Bear in mind Vitamin C must be below a pH of 3.5 to effectively enter the skin. The strip indicated the pH to be way too high. this time I tracked the package from LA to Austria, where it was again redirected back to the Americas - this time New York!īy this time the original serum had arrived and I did a pH test and confirmed my fears. I contacted Timeless and advised them that the product would oxidise and lose its effectiveness and after another week or so, they agreed to send a replacement package out. I tracked the parcel from being posted in LA, but for some bizarre reason it got redirected from the UK (where I live!) to Brazil, where it sat idly for a couple of weeks. Click here to exitĪt the start of January, I ordered a bottle of Timeless Skin Care's 20% vitamin c + e ferulic acid serum 1 oz. Posts without a valid tag will be removed by Automoderator.
